Day One. Perfect Sailing Conditions!




The festival of Sails kicked off with a bang, with perfect sailing conditions, with 10 to 15 knots of breeze with the Match Racing start beginning as planned.




Match Racing:

With 7 match racing boats, the first round robin of multiple races commenced, with a total of 42 races.

Cmdr R Mahesh leading with 4 points, winning all first 4 races comfortably

Cmdr Atul Sinha, 4 matches, second with 3 points.

Ayaz Sheikh, finished 3rd with two points losing to R Mahesh and Atul Sinha.

The 420 Race:

With a total of 11 boats, the 1st race saw all boats get off to a great start, with Datta  and Arsiwalla, 16 year olds practicing for the Asian Games, rounding the winward mark first. 

However, despite heading to the wrong downward mark, the duo yet managed to make a come back to win the 1st race in a nail biting finish, where the couple comprising of Tulsi and Sanjeev Chauhan, came in second.

In the 2nd Race, once again, the youngest duo, interestingly were placed second in the race, but again towards the end, came in to finish first with Aman Vyas of NSS Bhopal coming second.


The 470 Race:

Comprising 7 boats dominated by the Army Yachting Node, saw interesting results both the 1st and 2nd Races. Ashis Patel and Nirna Pandit coming 1st in the First Race. Chandrasekhar and Kamalesh Patel finishing second. 

In the second Race, the 470 fleet saw the first breakage of the week, with IND1 maintaining a significant lead throughout the race and finishing first.
